The Front Ball Break

The break is the most important shot in the game of 8-ball. Get a good split and you are in with a chance to clear up. Fail to pot a ball or go in off, you give your opponent that opportunity.

The front ball break is perhaps the most commonly used.

Aim for the front ball full in the face aiming very low on the cue ball to draw the cue ball back into the middle of the table. The idea here is to pot a ball off the break and leave the cue ball in the middle of the table where you will have more options to continue the break and perhaps clear up.

Make sure you follow through with the cue to deliver as much energy into the cue ball as possible and don't lift the cue in the air as you come through.

Make sure you practice your break, and often!

Happy breaking!
